With over 1000 matches as a head coach/ manager under his belt, Paul is a unique EFL manager, having successfully driven the development of both club and player for over 20 years, whilst consistently gaining results on the pitch.

aul retired at the age of 26 through persistent injury. He took his first coaching role at the University of Bath in 1999.

As Head Coach of the newly formed TeamBath Football Programme Paul began his coaching career in non league football with great success guiding Team Bath FC to four promotions in six years, developing highly productive coaching methods and a forte for one-to-one mentoring, before moving to Exeter City FC in 2006.

He led Exeter City through a comprehensive rebuilding process on and off the pitch. Inheriting the club shortly after a cva, Paul was instrumental in restoring the club’s position in the Football League whilst building an enduring legacy as a healthy and sustainable football business. Exeter City FC is fast emerging as one of the English Football League’s most respected and credible clubs.

Paul spent twelve years at St James’ park, managing over 600 matches for the Grecians. He achieved 4 play-off final appearances and gained 2 promotions as manager. Success on the pitch alongside an unrivalled record of developing and selling talent, Paul is regarded as Exeter’s most successful manager of all time.
A new chapter at MK Dons FC followed. In 2018, with a team relegated twice in the previous three years, a distinctly different challenge awaited Paul in Milton Keynes.

An automatic promotion in his first year at Stadium MK demonstrated his ability to immediately focus on results by establishing a positive environment conducive to a winning culture. Paul galvanised a dysfunctional dressing room and delivered a promotion at the first time of asking.

After a short sabbatical from football management, Paul briefly managed Bristol Rovers FC from November 2020 to January 2021
